A new education opportunity is on the verge of being developed in Fort Myers as Nova Classical STEM Academy celebrates its official ribbon-cutting and open house. The tuition-free public charter school, which the Lee County School Board approved, incorporates classical educational principles with practical STEM learning and is planned to start in August 2026, offering kindergarten through seventh grade. There are plans to gradually expand to cater to students through high school in the years to come.
The academy is located at 7101 Banway Road and is an innovative option for parents in Southwest Florida seeking an alternative to traditional public schools. It focuses its curriculum on critical thinking, scientific exploration, project-based learning, and enduring humanistic values to prepare students for future careers and to develop character and wisdom.
Between 1 and 3 p.m. today, community leaders and local families are expected to tour the campus, get an inside look at the classrooms, and learn more about enrolling in the next school year. As Southwest Florida continues to grow rapidly and demand on local schools increases, this new charter project seeks to fulfil families’ need for a high-quality, well-rounded education near their homes. The occasion reflects the increased enthusiasm of Lee and Collier counties for learning opportunities.
