Easter Tourism Surge Hits Fort Myers & Naples 2026

Southwest Florida is in the process of concluding a picture-perfect Easter Sunday with sunshine, smooth seas, and Gulf Coast record crowds. Strong holiday activity is also experienced in the region between Fort Myers and Naples on April 5, 2026, as families and tourists enjoy the warm spring day.

Parks, beaches, and waterfront locations are still full through the afternoon, which is a significant help to local businesses during the busiest travel weekend of the year.

Beaches Remain Full of Families and Tourists

Some of the highest visitor counts recorded this spring were in Fort Myers Beach, Bonita Springs, and Sanibel Island. The sun was shining clear and blue, and the temperatures were in the mid-80s, keeping the beachgoers in the water and on the sand all morning and late afternoon.

Lifeguards reported stable yet secure numbers of people, as many families spent their time picnicking and taking walks along the beach. The waterfront parks in Cape Coral were also frequented by large numbers of people who came for casual gatherings and outdoor play, and the parks gave Cape Coral a vibrant yet family-oriented environment in Lee and Collier counties.

The local officials attributed the high turnout to the perfect weather and high promotion of Southwest Florida as the best spring destination in the area last year. Tourists came to spend their vacations in vacation rentals and hotels, with most opting to stay until Monday.

Tourism and Local Economy Receive Huge Holiday Boost

The restaurants on the Naples waterfront and in the Fort Myers River District remained crowded during the day, with people enjoying their seafood and Gulf views. There was heavy boat traffic on the marinas, although golf courses and shopping areas were busy. The owners of businesses referred to the weekend as one of the best in 2026, and most shops and restaurants reported double-digit sales increases compared with the previous year.

The tourist boom is further helping the region recover from the previous weather blow at an even faster pace. The visitors were satisfied with the new beach renourishment zones, as they received many compliments on the expansive, cleaner sections of sand. Meanwhile, environmental teams urged boaters to be on the lookout for manatees in the Caloosahatchee River and neighbouring bays, and to ensure safety prevailed throughout the busy holiday.

After Dark Plans and Traffic Reported Smooth

With the sun setting on Easter Sunday, most families are heading out for evening activities, such as concerts on the waterfront in downtown Naples and sunset activities at Lovers Key State Park. The major roads, such as U.S. 41 and San Carlos Boulevard, also had smooth traffic flow, even with the high volume, due to additional manpower from local authorities. There were no significant accidents, and everyone was able to spend the holiday without making any stops.

The forecasters believe that the favourable weather will continue until Monday, when people and visitors will be able to spend one more day outdoors before the workweek sets in again. Southwest Florida has again demonstrated its popularity as a destination for spring celebrations, with a mix of nature and a warm, homely atmosphere.

Beaches are still vibrant, and businesses are doing well; all this brings the region to a high end on Easter Sunday. Attendance was very high, indicating the region’s appeal, and the spring season will continue to work in the right direction.
